Westport, CT, February 10, 2015 – Builders Beyond Borders has joined with Homes with Hope to present this year’s 14th Annual Castles in the Sand buildathon. The event is again being held at Compo Beach in Westport, on Saturday May 9, 2015 from 12 noon to 4pm. For the first time ever, “Castles” will include two hosting organizations. “We are so excited to join forces with B3 to make this year’s Castles the biggest ever, said Jeff Wieser, President & CEO of Homes with Hope. Every year is a uniquely fun day on the beach, and with the added enthusiasm of the great people at Builders Beyond Borders, it will be a very fun event.”
Castles in the Sand is open to all: families, friends, co-workers and groups of all types. Teams of varying sizes can purchase 10’ x 10’ lots starting at $100 and 20’ x 20’ lots starting at $300. Compo Beach parking fees will be waived the day of the event for participants. Sand castle creations are limited only to the participants’ imaginations. Prizes will be awarded to top sculptures by event judges. Event proceeds will benefit both Builders Beyond Borders and Homes with Hope. Builders Beyond Borders (B3) works within communities both here and abroad to promote youth leadership and volunteerism. Whether it’s the revitalization of a local park, helping the homeless, construction of a classroom, aqueduct or a series of latrines, B3’s student and adult volunteers work to address a community’s most pressing needs. The B3 mission is to build character, responsibility and leadership by engaging high school students in local and global community service.
