Bacharach Community & Hoskins’ Place

Bacharach Community & Hoskins’ Place

Announcement Date: January 1, 1993

In the early ‘90’s the Federal Government gave the Town of Westport a row of affordable housing units on Wassell Lane. Three of these were designated to provide shelter for families and IHA took over administration of what we named the Bacharach Community in honor of our early guiding light, Jim Bacharach. Shortly following this enhancement to our program, we reconfigured the Gillespie Center to include an emergency shelter for four single women in a portion of the building. We named this facility Hoskins Place, in honor of Ted Hoskins, the Saugatuck Congregational Church Pastor, who was so responsible for the founding of IHA.
