Cars

Do you have a car in good working order that no longer fits into your family’s plans? Please consider donating your car to Homes with Hope and help a person or family in need. HwH accepts donated cars that will pass Connecticut State Inspection and can be registered. The agency gives the donated cars directly to our clients to own and use; at no time do we sell donated cars. Cars should be in good condition because those who receive them, the homeless and those at risk of homelessness, don’t have much extra money for repairs.

Sometimes, the gift of a car is just the right thing to help a client get off to work, pick up their kids at school or daycare and get to the grocery store. Not all of our clients are appropriate for a car donation because they have more immediate needs that must be taken care of before a car is actually helpful. We carefully screen all recipients for suitability so that we don’t unnecessarily burden someone who is not yet ready to financially handle an automobile.

The gift of a car is tax deductible within the parameters of the IRS tax code. Homes with Hope will provide the donor with an acknowledgment letter including the make and model of the car, vehicle identification number, and a statement certifying the vehicle was given in an arm's length transaction between unrelated parties.

We would love to talk to you further about donating your car to Homes with Hope. Please call Audrey Sparre, Vice President/COO at 203-226-3426 ext. 12 for more information.
